AUHSD CELEBRATES THE GRAND OPENING OF THE JAN & ROSS BILLINGS INNOVATION CENTER AT MAGNOLIA HIGH SCHOOL

Anaheim, CA — On Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the highly anticipated Jan & Ross Billings Innovation Center at Magnolia High School. This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to AUHSD’s dedication to fostering creativity and 21st-century skills among its students and made possible through funds from a school bond, reflecting our community's commitment to education and innovation.

The grand opening event will feature a short ceremony with remarks from Dr. Jan Billings, one of the center’s namesakes, followed by tours of the new building. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the cutting-edge amenities and resources that are available to students, including interactive project-based learning spaces, advanced cybersecurity classrooms, and collaborative work environments designed for cross-curricular learning.

About the Jan & Ross Billings Innovation Center:

Named in honor of Jan and Ross Billings, whose outstanding commitment and service to Magnolia High School and AUHSD have been instrumental in the success of countless students, this facility represents a significant milestone in the District’s pursuit of educational excellence.

The two-story building spans 22,161 square feet and includes an additional 8,200 square feet of covered outdoor walkways, bringing the total footprint to 30,181 square feet. The center is equipped with five general classrooms and four cybersecurity classrooms, part of a broader Cybersecurity Pathway. The centerpiece of this facility is the 6,700-square-foot Cybersecurity Project-based Learning Center, which comprises four dedicated cybersecurity classrooms, an instructional server room, and two workrooms.

These spaces are designed to support 21st-century learning by facilitating large-scale projects, experiments, and collaboration with industry partners. The center’s expansive open spaces and cutting-edge technology, such as tablet-style devices, wireless network connections, and server racks, enable students to engage in real-world applications like cyber vulnerability competitions, robotics, coding, drone experiments, and malware detection.
